NEW YORK -- Men's wear has emerged as a major growth opportunity for retailers and manufacturers, thanks to a more-receptive consumer and some irresistible advances in technology and fashion.

That was the consensus of a panel of industry executives at a YMA roundtable discussion at Parsons School of Design here earlier this month. The panelists -- Vanessa Castagna, executive chairwoman of Mervyns, Paul Fitzpatrick, executive vice-president and GMM of men's and children's for Macy's West, and Chris Fuentes, vice-president of marketing for Nautica, who was sitting in on behalf of Denise Seegal, Nautica's president -- will be honored at the group's annual scholarship fundraising dinner on Jan. 11 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel...
