Much like their compatriots in banking, executives at Rolex say little about their business. Observers estimate that the company sells about 600,000 watches a year, in premium-distribution channels only. The watches, including the iconic Oyster Perpetual Datejust, are knocked off in high volume, and Rolex does its best to educate consumers about determining the authenticity of Rolex-branded product they may encounter. The brand's image is further burnished by "ambassadors" (i.e., sponsored spokesmen), including Andy Roddick and Arnold Palmer.
