Employer's Reinsurance Corp (ERC), a subsidiary of GE Capital Services, needed a standardized way to handle transaction. The fast-growing company, which is the world's third-largest reinsurance provider, needed to eliminate redundancy and ensure consistency in its systems. ERC met the challenge with a two-tier client/server implementation based on IBM's DB2 relational database working with the MVS operating system.
