When Firewalls Go Up in Smoke.(Technology Information)

Almost all data theft is the result of a firewall's failure to protect a network. The firewall is the basic defense employed against hackers, and they do a good job for the most part, but a skilled hacker will be able to get past this defensive mechanism. Internal security breaches are actually a greater threat. Almost 60 percent of companies in a recent survey report at least one case of system abuse by authorized users within the past year. There is no single solution to data protection. The best approach is a layered defense employing a wide variety of security technologies.
