Say the term "Web services" around a lot of enterprise administrators, and you'll probably trigger some hype detectors. That's because the Web services arena currently has all the heated atmosphere and buy-now promises of a paid programming infomercial on late-night television. Some vendors are pushing the Web services model as a solution for platform and application integration problems of any and all kinds; others are hyping Web services as a quantum leap forward in business-to-business integration.
