After being presented in its fledgling form at the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy, Your Arms Too Short to Box with God receives its American premiere at Washington, D.C.'s Ford's Theatre. An adaptation by Vinnette Carroll of the Gospel According to St. Matthew, using a black revival meeting to frame the play's action, this high-spirited romp through the resurrection becomes an unlikely staple of American musical theatre.
