John Peakes, founder and artistic director of the 35-year-old BoarsHead Theater of Lansing, Mich., received the 15th annual ArtServe Michigan Governors' Award, presented to a working artist who has exerted a steady influence upon his or her field. ArtServe's international achievement award went to playwright Arthur Miller. Playwright Karen Hartman (Gum, Girl Under Grain) is the new Alfred E. Hodder Fellow at Princeton University. Writers of any discipline, including theatre, may earn the fellowship, which recognizes outstanding literary promise and carries a $45,600 award.
