Staunton, Va.: With state-of-the-art theatres sprouting up right and left, the Shenandoah Shakespeare Festival is bucking the trend with its newly constructed $4-million replica of the historic Blackfriars, replete with wooden joints, tiring house, two gallery levels and bench seating for 300 in the pit (less adventurous playgoers can rent a seat back and pillow for $4).
