The Theatre Hall of Fame presented its 2001 Founder's Award to Tom Dillon, president of the Actors' Fund. In addition to heading the only not-for-profit organization in the U.S. dedicated to performing artists' social welfare, Dillon is a longtime performer who starred in Winged Victory in both its Broadway and film incarnations. Also honored by the Theatre Hall of Fame (at a ceremony hosted by actress Marian Seldes) were Robert Brustein, Alvin Colt, George Grizzard, T. Edward Hambleton, Henry Hewes, Isabelle Stevenson, Charles Strouse and, posthumously, Peter Gennaro.
