With looming thoughts of plunging ticket sales, a shortfall in government funding and a drop in corporate and foundation giving, artistic and managing directors, as well as trustees from over 50 constituent theatres--about 100 people in all--convened in New York, Nov. 15--17, for TCG's annual governance-oriented Fall Forum. Titled "Theatre Boards in 2002: Activism in a Changing World," the conference focused on the trustees' growing importance as champions of the arts--upholding their theatres' value to their communities, despite economic change.
