As the young artistic director of yet another start-up, not-for-profit theatre company in Chicago, I found Todd London's observations, opinions and potential solutions ("The Shape of Plays to Come," Nov. '02) to be a needed dose of encouragement. As he pointed Out, it can become tiresome and alienating for the individual artist to work amongst large and established institutional theatres.
