Purely 'Peter Pan'. .(Letter to the Editor)

I was interested, irritated, amused, saddened and puzzled by the article "Fear of Flying" (Feb. '03), concerning Peter Pan. The article contains some alarming inaccuracies: J.M. Barrie is described as an English writer, but he was in fact born and raised in Kirriemuir, Scotland, and studied at the University of Edinburgh.
English was not his native language--much of his early poetry is in Scots. The description of the 1904-05 stage work as a play is not correct: the original "Fantasy in Five Acts" included an 80-page musical score by composer John Crook. This ...
