Toward a world theatre.(Letter to the Editor)

Thank you for the panel discussion "Through the Looking Glass" (Jan. '02). It is a step in the right direction. But I still find the exercise of defining Asian theatre limiting and confusing. If it is performed in America, can you really call it Asian theatre? Or is it Asian-American theatre? Or is it something else altogether? Call it what you will, I think this is another example of a trend in world theatre that is capturing attention from American audiences more now than ever.
