Peter Stone, the first writer to win a Tony, an Emmy and an Oscar, died in New York City in April of pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 73. His first major Broadway hit, 1776, for which he served as librettist, won a Tony for best musical in 1969, and Stone went on to garner two more statues for best book--for 1981's Woman of the Year and 1997's Titanic.
