I found James Bundy's "On the Training Ground" to be a veritable smokescreen of hyperbole. We are well aware of the function of an MFA program and the challenges theatre faces in the nation. Questioning the quality of work coming out of training institutions (as Jeanmarie Simpson of Nevada Shakespeare Company did) is not a form of dismissal, but the beginning of the much-needed "deep conversation" that Mr.
Bundy proposes to address these issues. What better place is there for this to happen than in our national journal, where all students, teachers, directors ...
