Washington, D.C.: When you've got it, you better work it. And if you archive all of it in a CD format, you don't have to be physically there to present it. The National Endowment for the Arts has produced "Teaching Shakespeare," a spoken-arts CD that features recitations and monologues by James Earl Jones, Michael York, Jane Alexander, Zooey Deschanel, Harold Bloom and Mel Gibson. With Elizabethan lute selections played by Howard Bass and an excerpt of Chieu Xuan's performance from the documentary film A Dream in Hanoi, the CD is part of a teacher resource kit that includes a video, a teacher's guide, a timeline poster and fun facts, all of which can be ordered by visiting www.vpw.com/partner/shakespeare.
