"He uses silences better than most playwrights use words"--that's how American Theater Company artistic director Damon Kiely describes the style of Brett Neveu, the 33-year-old playwright whose newest work, American Dead, runs at ATC through March 21. Kiely's remark won't startle anyone familiar with the writings of the Chicago-based Neveu, whose plays tend to deal with the emotional fallout of tragic events.
