Atrio of 2003 productions earned top honors from the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle in late January. The Old Globe's production of Joe Penhall's Blue/Orange; La Jolla Playhouse's mounting of Fraulein Else, Francesca Faridany's adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's novella; and Renaissance Theatre Company's staging of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge won prizes for outstanding resident productions in what San Diego Union-Tribune critic Anne Marie Welsh referred to as a strong year for "high-quality acting, directing and design" in San Diego County.
