Racy puppets and homicidal glory-hounds took home the booty, and Tony history was twice made. Gasps of shock could be heard June 6 in Radio City Music Hall when Avenue Q was crowned best musical, besting the odds-on favorite, the $14-million Stephen Schwartz blockbuster Wicked. Q's eclectic group of producers, performers and plucky puppets scampered on stage to accept the show's third big prize, having already cheered the announcement of best book (Jeff Whitty) and best original score (Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx).
