NEW YORK CITY: After 24 years of funding international arts exchanges, Arts International quietly shut its doors this past December. Noreen Tomassi, who led the nonprofit group since 1997, cites three main factors for A.I.'s dissolution: the demise of the Fund for U.S. Artists program, the reduction of financial support by foundations and public sector partners, and a protracted legal dispute with A.I.'s landlord over damages caused by a flood in January 2004.
