THE WAITRESSES AT JAVA JIVE, A POPULAR ATLANTA brunch spot, had long stopped refilling our coffees, and the remains of our omelets, grits and gingerbread waffles had been cleared away. But the artists seated around me at the restaurant's largest table were too busy brainstorming to notice: They were trading notes on the visual aspects of Synchronicity Performance Group's upcoming original production, Women + War.
