A couple of things were unusual about Gavin Creel's concert at New York's Second Stage in March. While unmistakably a musical theatre crowd, the audience was mostly under 35. The boyish, long-haired Creel, recently featured in Broadway's La Cage aux Folles, performed no songs from that show--nor, indeed, any show tunes at all. This, despite the presence of Broadway stalwarts like Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs, Ruth Williamson and Stephen Sondheim in the audience.
