Nicholas Martin, DIRECTOR: The original version of this production, amazingly, was done for New York City's Acting Company, so it had to be loaded in a trunk for touring--the set pieces were on wheels, and so on. From the beginning, it was a youthful production in spirit--the design team and I always wanted to push it visually, to make it not exactly cartoony, but not to be afraid of color and high style.
