When we spoke over the phone in October about her latest play, Starving, Sherry Shephard-Massat was wondering aloud how she was getting any writing done. The father of her two children had just left. (They're divorced, but he was helping her look after the kids while she worked a "regular job.") She was getting ready to fly from her home in Atlanta to Washington, D.C., for the play's first rehearsal. Everything demanded her attention.
