THE ACTORS STUDIO: Malaysia's largest and most prolific theatre company was founded in 1989 by married couple Joe Hasham and Faridah Merican. Its plays range from English-language mainstays to new comedies such as Cheet Chat, by Janarthani Arumugam and Mark Beau de Silva. Two fortysomething "girls on the edge," one Indian, one Chinese--played by the writers themselves--gossip about shared anxieties and animosities across their cubicle divider.
