CASSANDRA MEDLEY'S Relativity has been called the "African-American Proof" and "the black Copenhagen." Not by critics--but by some of Medley's own producers in an earnest attempt to win broader media recognition for her fascinating and combustible new drama. The comparison is doubly ironic, given the touchy intellectual rivalry among the play's three geneticists, who are battling to maintain their moral and ethical positions on the controversial theory that people with more melanin in their skin are more highly evolved than those with less.
