40 Years Ago (1966) The League of Resident Theatres is founded, with Peter Zeisler as its first director. LORT will promote community interests, raise funds and renegotiate with labor unions every three years for regional professional theatres. 15 Years Ago (1991) New York City's Palace Theater at Broadway and 47th Street, at one time the most famed vaudeville house in the nation, reopens after an multiyear intermission for extensive renovations.
