From, the Mississippi Delta scribe Endesha Ida May Holland died in January in Santa Monica, Calif., at the age of 61. She had fought ataxia, a degenerative neurological disease, for the past 15 years. Holland wrote the autobiographical Delta, which began its life as a one-woman show, in 1988, and it was performed around the country.
