SEATTLE: It was, by all accounts, a great fight. After several valiant attempts to save it, the Empty Space Theatre has shuttered its doors. In late October 2006, its board of directors voted to cease the 36-year-old Seattle troupe's operations due to inadequate funds. The closure was expected, despite a number of signs that seemed to augur an optimistic season (for example, the appointment of local director and teacher Sheila Daniels as a new associate artistic director).
