Long before he entered into rehearsals, F. Murray Abraham had already committed to tackling two infamous Jewish stage characters, Barabas in Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta and Shylock in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice--at the same time. He is performing the roles in rotating repertory over the course of two months this winter at the Duke on 42nd Street in Manhattan under the auspices of Theatre for a New Audience.
