OBERLIN, OHIO, AND NEW YORK CITY: Even by contemporary standards, David Lynch's enigmatic film Lost Highway is an unusual candidate for operatic adaptation. But the U.S. premiere of composer Olga Neuwirth's version plays this month at coproducing institutions Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Feb. 8-10) and Miller Theatre at Columbia University (Feb. 23-24), staged by Jonathon Field and performed by the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble.
