I applaud Oskar Eustis's superb article about Joseph Papp, who helped the careers of countless theatre folk. In 1979, he came to what would have been the last performance of The Three Cuckolds, a zany commedia dell'arte show I was producing at the Riverside Shakespeare Company. He called us into his office the next Monday morning and said, "I like your young company, because you can still carry your sets on your backs." He asked us what we needed to keep going, and then he provided it.
