Annie Dorsen, DIRECTOR: Passing Strange is a rock show with a story in the middle. The first principle of design was to make the band the environment. You can see, behind Stew (seated) in the above image, a hole with a drummer in it. Each band member is sunk into the ground, across the stage, with actors living in and amongst the band.
