Over the years, many will remember the TV program "The Price is Right." This was a program where the contestant would guess the price of a particular item or items and if the price was correct, they would win a prize. This can be much the same in our own mechanical trade when it comes to pricing a job.

I'm referring to the pricing of the service and parts we sell to our customers. Often, a customer will call with a no-heat call and the customer ends up with the bill for the labor and material necessary to get the heat problem repaired. However, the bill is a shocker and larger than expected for just replacing the nozzle, filter and pump strainer, caused by a sludge condition the oil tank.
