Like many of you who read this column, I have been a service manager for many years. Most of our service technicians come to us either from another company where they felt they were not being treated right or simply had a dispute with their manager. I have to ask myself, is it always their fault?

We simply do not get the opportunity to get out in the field as often as we would like. We think that the technician should know everything that we know, while the technician in the field feels that their service manager has all the answers and makes no mistakes. Well, I will be the first to admit that I have made many mistakes in both the technical and managerial aspects of being a manager. One of which was made just a little while ago.
