Star Gas chief executive announces resignation.(Star Gas Partners L.P., Irik Sevin)

On March 7, Star Gas Partners, the embattled distributor of home heating oil, said chairman, chief executive and president Irik Sevin had resigned, as reported by Newsday.

Also, Sevin's mother, Audrey Sevin, quit as a director and secretary of Star Gas, which owns Petro and Meenan and serves large swaths of New York City and Long Island.

Joseph Cavanaugh, who was named Star Gas' new chief executive, declined to provide details on Sevin's departure but said Star plans a more decentralized, service-oriented strategy to stem defections by customers.
