ESRI wins extension for Geospatial One-Stop enhancements.(Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc.)

ESRI, the Redlands, Calif.-based company that created Geodata.gov, the Geospatial One-Stop (GOS) portal for the U.S. Department of Interior, won a $2.4 million five-year contract for system enhancements.

"There was a very intense competition for the follow-on work, which will have an 'order of magnitude' better discovery and access for all citizens," said Scott Cameron, deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior.

The GOS project was launched in November 2001 as one of 24 e-government initiatives designed to make federal geospatial data resources more accessible to state, local and tribal governments.
