The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Response Division developed a pilot project to build a Geospatial Support Task Force (GSTF) to provide a standardized and effective level of geospatial support to meet the immediate response requirements of catastrophic/no-notice events during the next year.

The GSTF will bring high-end geospatial resources into the field to provide services to federal incident-response activities immediately following an event. Building on the experiences gained during the last 11 years, the GSTF is designed to resolve many of the common issues that inhibit the utilization of geospatial technology in the early response efforts to major events.
