Using Herbs Treat Asthama and Allergy
In the US, approximately 12 million Americans suffer from asthma. As of 1993, 24.2 million people experienced symptoms of allergic rhinitis. With allergy being the number two condition prompting Americans to explore alternative therapies (back pain is number one), understanding what herbs are currently used to treat asthma and allergic rhinitis becomes most important to healthcare professionals.
Physicians Leonard Bielory and Kristin Lupoli, who conduct their research at the Asthma and Allergy Research Center, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, have observed an increased use of herbal medicines by asthmatics, who may well be gaining benefits from them.
