Medical Device Technology, December, 2004

A 250 000 [pounds sterling]award from the South East Growth Fund (SEGF) will allow Asthma Alert, based at Brunel University, to conduct clinical trials on its handheld device, which measures lung performance. SEGF is one of nine regional capital venture funds covering the English regions. The device can proactively monitor the asthmatic's status to detect attacks, control medication to prevent them occurring and help in the diagnosis of new patients, say its developers.
