Lathe series displaces heat

Modern Applications News, Sept, 2007

The NL Series of lathes have increased rigidity and minimal thermal displacement for precision and productivity. The series features a milling motor inside the turret directly coupled to the milling tool. There are 30 models in the NL Series, including 6", 8", 10", and 12" chuck versions with the longest maximum turning length of 49.6" on some models. The NL3000 handles bar work as large as 3.54" in diameter. The machines feature digital tailstocks where servo drives provide movement. Position and thrust are controlled from the operation screen rather than manually setting them. Specially-placed coverings isolate heat from the oil controller and hydraulic unit, redirecting heat to the outside of the machine. Heat transfer devices also control heat from the headstock and servomotors. Mori Seiki USA, Inc.
