Cascades Inc., Kingsey Falls, Quebec, reports net earnings of $120 million (Canadian) for the fiscal year 2001, compared to $75 million in 2000. Net sales increased by 5.5 percent during the year, amounting to $4.02 billion, compared to $2.87 billion in 2000. Chesapeake Corp., Richmond, Va., reports fourth quarter income of $9.9 million, up 132 percent over fourth quarter 2000 net income of $4.3 million.

Results for the 2001 fourth quarter included a gain on the sale of the Thatcham paperboard packaging facility in the UK. Net income from continuing operations for the fiscal year was $19.8 million, an increase of 25 percent over fiscal year 2000 net income of $15.9 million.
