Weyerhaeuser Co., Federal Way, Wash., appoints Michael Thompson president, Weyerhaeuser Asia Ltd., effective Jan. 1. He succeeds H. James Fitzgerald who will return to the United States and then retire. Hanson, with the exception of Trus Joist, will lead all Weyerhaeuser operations in the Southern Hemisphere, Weyerhaeuser Asia and the company's European Composite Panels business.
