American Dairy Queen Corp. (DQ), Edina, Minn., partnered with ink supplier CTI, Colorado Springs, Colo., and manufacturer International Paper Foodservice Business, Montvale, N.J., to create its "Turn Your Summer Upside Down" promotional cup. DQ is the first quick-serve restaurant to use photochromic ink technology this way. The ink is water-based, which meets the requirement for high-speed printing processes, and the cup provides adhesion to prevent the ink from rubbing off.
