Weyco closes sheet feeder, reconfigures plant: eliminating jobs.(Weyerhaeuser Co.)(Brief Article)

Weyerhaeuser Co. will cut 92 jobs through a closure and reconfiguring at two southern U.S. plants. In the next 30 days, the company will close its Bardcor sheet feeder located in Guthrie, Ky. The closure affects 57 positions.

In a related move, Weyerhaeuser's West Memphis, Ark., containerboard facility will be reconfigured into a sheet feeder operation to take on the Guthrie production. The West Memphis finishing area will be closed, eliminating approximately 35 positions. Approximately 55 individuals will continue to be employed at the plant in shipping and management, according to the company.

In the Memphis area, Weyerhaeuser employment totals approximately 350 at five packaging and wood products facilities.
