Two unions representing more than 10,000 Weyerhaeuser workers, nearly half the company's unionized work force, held a joint solidarity day last Thursday, March 31, at more than 60 facilities across North America. These facilities included corrugated plants, logging operations, sawmills and pulp and paper mills from Vancouver Island to Florida. The unions involved are the United Steelworkers of America, representing 3,500 Weyerhaeuser workers in Canada, and the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union (PACE), representing more than 7,000 U.S. employees.
