Boxboard prices move up.(ICG IMPACT)

A recent phone survey of independent folding carton companies reveals that most are now paying anywhere from $10 to $40 per ton more for clay coated recycled rolls and $10 to $50 per ton more for SBS. In certain cases those that buy the coated unbleached kraft (CUK) produced by Graphic Packaging and MeadWestvaco are also paying more.

One of the challenges faced in keeping this chart accurate is the impact of the Independent Carton Group (ICG), an association of 21 independently owned and operated folding carton companies that is based in Newtown, Conn. It has established confidential contracts with board suppliers and will not comment on the specific prices paid by its members.
