Rolls-Royce's Indianapolis, IN engineering and manufacturing operation is the first gas turbine engine manufacturer to be certified to the ISO 14001 international environmental management standard in the United States.

Eighty-five percent of Rolls-Royce businesses have achieved ISO 14001 certification and all will be certified by January, 2002.

To earn ISO 14001 certification, a company must establish a policy stating its commitment to protecting the environment; develop procedures and programs to identify and control activities which could significantly impact the environment; set goals for improving the environment; and identify and correct any problem areas.
