Being an independent researcher can be lonely sometimes, especially when you're interested in an online information service and you discover that it only offers institutional subscriptions, meaning you're going to have to sell your plasma for 6 months for even a whiff of a subscription.
Thankfully, though, more and more information services are learning that solo researchers are people, too, and need access to research services as much as institutional buyers. The Internet has made several great solo research sources available. This column takes a look at five of'em.
