Offering alternatives to print does not simply mean issuing e-books; it can also mean adding value to research through customized tables, proximity searching, or even new data. Converting a Quark XPress document into an e-book isn't exactly rocket science. Just add some indexing, DRM security, and boom! So then the Earth shakes and the information industry is amazed? Hardly. But sometimes it does pass for acceptable in the world of print to electronic. Not always, just sometimes.
